COACH SAM

Hi Sam here, founder of RUNROX, coach, and athlete. I started RUNROX because I have a strong passion for fitness, and in particular for Hyrox. The thing I love about Hyrox, is that it's accessible to all fitness levels. Personally, I love that it includes a lot of running! It's cardio based at it's core, but requires some strength as well. The race is varied, fun, and the atmosphere at a Hyrox race is incredible!

My Story

As a teenager, I mainly played a lot of football. Around 14, I discovered I was quite talented at endurance running. I have the build for it; narrow, light, and decent strength to weight ratios. I soon excelled at endurance running and was the best U20 runner in all of Cambridgeshire. But then the injuries came along. My right foot is quite ducked, and this causes me issues. Along with other elements of my life taking over, I slowly faded away from running, and turned towards the gym, to build muscle and strength instead. The issue was, I never felt as healthy training this way, even though to look at, I was in 'the best shape of my life'. My cardio had become AWFUL. Occasionally I would pop out for a 5km run and even slowly it would kill me. Around 2022, I began to experiment with 'hybrid training', in the sense that I did heavy barbell strength work, and running too. I loved it, and I haven't looked back since. Once I discovered Hyrox, I was HOOKED. With all my fitness knowledge and experience, I wanted to inspire others to get into Hyrox training and racing, so I launched RUNROX. RUNROX caters for all levels of fitness, and makes individualised Hyrox training more accessible.

QUALIFICATIONS

I have attained many fitness qualifications over the years as you can see from the slideshow here. Some key ones being 'Level 3 Personal Trainer', 'Functional Equipment Training', 'Exercise for Fat Loss', and 'Level 3 nutrition in weight management, and Sport & Exercise'. 'Level 3 in Exercise Referral' means I can train individuals that have medical conditions. too

On top of this, I am constantly learning, reading scientific books such as "Scientific Training for Endurance Athletes" and "Scientific Principles of Strength Training" to name a few. 

​

As an athlete, & coach I get to put this knowledge into practice to see what really works and what doesn't.
